Bergstrasse

The Bergstrasse in Stäfa is a historic traffic route that connects the harbour of Ötiken by the Lake of Zurich with the Zurich Oberland. Over time, the road was adapted to the constantly changing needs of traffic. The morphology of the settlement and houses is a reflection of their original purpose and their time of origin as well as of the changing requirements of the inhabitants. The photographs show the interaction between historical, physical permanence and the continuously impacting counter-forces.

The photographs were taken in Stäfa at the beginning of 2018 and are part of an ongoing project on the transformation processes on the Gold Coast and in the greater Zurich area.
